Everyone likes playing video games. Well, mostly everyone likes playing video games.
What’s not to like?
You can drown in endless hours of fun and entertainment. It’s great for passing time.
Do you know what’s more fun than playing video games?
Playing video games with friends. So here is a list of 10 video games from racing games to heavy shooting that can be played with 3 or more players.
01) Death Squared [ Pc, Ps4, Xbox, Switch]
Have you played Portal?
Good. Now imagine Portal, but it’s isometric starring cubes. Now the story is 2 player, which follows the adventures of entry level employee David Venezuela i.e. you and his fellow AI buddy
IRIS i.e. your friend and they test out a couple robotic cubes in a gauntlet of 80 puzzles. The online multiplayer mode allows up to 4 players to control these cute cubes with skins of cute animals of different color codes. And if you fail, the game’s snarky narrator will give you guff. It’s a charming puzzle based game that you should definitely give a try. This is fun 3 player game that you can enjoy with your friends.
02) Team Sonic Racing [Pc, Ps4, Switch, Xbox One]
Do you love Mario kart?
Then you will like Team Sonic Driving. This is a cooperative kart racing game with engaging team play, with players divided in teams of three. Each player has unique abilities based on the three types of racing classes: speed, technique and power. For example, Tails can drive over rough surfaces without slowing down.
The gameplay is 3rd person perspective, with the player able to run over panels to get speed boosts, perform tricks in midair, and drifts to make sharp turns. Power-ups called Wisps can be collected from canisters with ‘?’ marks that can grant additional temporary offensive and defensive advantages.
This is where the cooperative gameplay comes into focus. The player is a part of a team of racers, and while you control a single raver you must also pay attention to how team mates are performing and share power-ups. Instead of winning races by simply finishing first, teams get points based on how they work together.
Of course, you can ask why Sonic and gang need cars when they can run at superspeeds? Well, the story adventure mode has an in game explanation as to why, which I won’t spoil here. Play the damn game.
03) Apex Legends [Pc, Ps4, Xbox One, Switch, Android, iOS]
This was coming. You knew it. When searching the internet for 3 player online multiplayer games, usually Apex Legends comes out first. Along with other games. Apex Legends is an online multiplayer battle royale game featuring squads of three players.
Players control Legends, pre-made characters with distinctive abilities. Recently alternate modes in this game have been released which allow for 2 player or single player squads. The game is free to play which includes a lot of grinding.
But if grinding for loot isn’t your style you can buy loot boxes through microtransactions which allow players to spend real money and in-game currency cosmetic items. To ensure the gameplay doesn’t stagnate, seasons are introduced which usually bring new
challenges to the game. At the end if the challenges are the rewards, usually limited time only free cosmetic mods, but even rarely a new character. The game does have a somewhat cohesive story, but it doesn’t really impact the gameplay. Another amazing game to play with three people.
04) Minecraft [Pc, Nintendo, Xbox, Ps3, Ps4, Android, macOS, iOS]
You know Minecraft. I know Minecraft. Enough said…Ok. Maybe not that short of a description. But really, there’s not much to say, and I would prefer if you play this game yourself to fully understand this game.
In essence, Minecraft is a 3d sandbox with no required goals to accomplish. However, achievements do exist for certain tasks you carry out in this 3d blocky environment. Game play is first person perspective by
default but players can have the option for a third person experience. Players mine blocks, fight dangerous animals and monsters, interact with friendly animals or npcs, all of them are collectively called mods. Minecraft has different worlds, mainly the two alternate dimensions the Overworld and the Underworld.
The Overworld where the player character spawn’s and plays by default, and the Underworld which basically the game’s version of Hell. Then there is the End, a bizarre dimension home to the mob Endermen and the mighty Enderdragon.
And that’s it. You can play the game in either Creative mode or Survival mode. The former gives you infinite health, unlimited resources and the ability to fly. The latter give you limited resources, limited health that regenerates through food consumption, and no flight capabilities. Enough said.
05) Counter Strike: Global Offensive [pc, macOS, Linux, ps3, Xbox 360]
Oh, where would we be without Counter Strike? How many hours did we spend saying CS 1.6? Nothing really needs to be said about this game, since Counter Strike is so well known. But in case you have been living under a rock all your life, no offense, the gameplay of Global Offensive plays out somewhat like this.
There are two teams: Terrorists and Counter-terrorists. Each team competes in game modes to repeatedly complete objectives, such as securing a location to plant a bomb or to defuse it and capturing or rescuing hostages. After a premeditated number of rounds need on the time per map or the total time in general, the players are rewarded based on individual and team performances with in game currencies.
Of course microtransactions are available too. Global Offensive has 9 game modes which are Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, Arms Race, Demolition, Wingman, Flying Scotsman, Retakes and Danger Zone.
Of course, with the latest updates Valve has introduced offline modes of all of the above game modes. Players can buy better weapons, better loadout, to upgrade their character. You can play as a team of three online, or offline with bots. Your wish. Just play this game if you love fps games like Call of Duty. You won’t regret it.
06) Warface [Pc, Xbox, Ps4, Switch]
Warface is a free to play online fps multiplayer video game developer with the legendary CryEngine 3. Warface centres around online PvP or player versus player firefights where the player can choose
between five different classes: Sniper, Rifleman, Engineer, Medic, or SED. Each class has its own specific combat role. Medics revive fallen and heal injured teammates. Engineers restore and repair armor. They can also revive SEDs, Synthetically Engineered Doubles. Rifleman provides additional ammunition. SEDs provide suppressive fire and eliminate large groups of enemies. Sniper engage lining range firefights.
Similarly, each class has their own combat loadout befitting their class. Players can compete in online matches or combine their efforts to eliminate AI controlled enemies. As usual, cryptocurrency is available, even though this game is free to play. Better weapons, better gear, you know the drill.
07) Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege [pc, ps4, ps5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S]
Rainbow Six Siege is the successor to Rainbow Six Patriots, a tactical shooter game with an overarching narrative. Six Siege is the first game of the rebooted franchise, a new beginning for the Tom Clancy games with the death of the author. It’s designed to invoke the Counter Strike feel to it’s game.
Players impersonate the top counter terrorism teams of different nationalities, each with completely different weapons and gadgets. The base CTUs (Counter Terrorism Units) available to play are the American FBI SWAT, so go fulfill your “FUN! Open up!” memes. Then there’s the British SAS, German GSG-9, Russian Spetsnaz, and the French GIGN. Each of these teams are split between a 4 operator team of attackers and defenders, with more units later added through DLC. Players can also access a Recruit operator, who can choose from a more flexible assortment of
equipment at the expense of having a unique gadget or ability to customize their weapon. Players pick any operator from any unit and choose spawn points. The in game currency is Renown. The more renown, more weapons, more cosmetics, skin mods and boosters. This game features a heavy emphasis on environmental destruction, so technically you can cause ‘collateral damage’ while justifying your goal. These environmental destruction deliver tactical advantages, so…You do you. Since this game is a multiplayer game, there are Seasonal Events.
There is a setting in Six Siege. Three years after the deactivation of the Rainbow Program, there is a resurgence of terrorism. White Mask stands prominent, and their goals are unknown yet they cause chaos across the world. To counter this threat the Rainbow Program is reactivated by a new
leader simply dubbed Six. After assembly of new counter terrorism teams and rigourous training by recruits, they are prepared for White Mask. White Mask launches a chemical attack on a university and the recruits are sent to disarm the bombs and eliminate enemy presence. The operation is a massive success; though with casualties. This confirms Six that the deactivation of the Rainbow Program is indeed the best possible course of action.
DLCs further expand this story, with the latest DLC called Operation Shadow Legacy which sees the return of veteran Tom Clancy protagonist and stealth master. The legendary Sam Fisher.
08) World of Tanks [pc, Xbox, ps4, Switch]
World of Tanks is a wonderful game
developed by studio Wargaming West, and the oldest of the trilogy under the title World of. World of Tanks is succeeded by World of Warplanes and World of Warships. The gameplay is very simple. Players control a single armored tank or self-propelled artillery vehicle of their choice, and are placed into a battle on a random map.
Players have complete control over the vehicle’s movement, firing, and can communicate with allied players and all other players through types or voice chat. A random player is won by either destroying all enemy vehicles on the opposing team or capturing their base. There are other game modes, but the game mechanics remain the same.
WoT incorporates multiple game mechanics such as camouflage, shell ricochets, and module and personnel damage. A battle includes up to 15v15 players with bots filling the gaps. Vehicles are modeled to closely resemble
their real life counterparts with extra measures for simplified control and better gameplay. This game is free to play, but you can buy the better loadouts or grind during limited-time events. Nothing much to tell. There is no real story, just the ones you make for yourselves.
09) Totally Accurate Battlegrounds (TABG) [pc]
Totally Accurate Battlegrounds. Where do I begin?
There is no game so insane, so out of the box, drug-enraged, cocaine-fueled game handcrafted by a drunk God himself in the unity engine. TANG plays similarly to other battle Royale games like PUBG, Freefire, etc wherein the player must traverse a shrinking safe area, collect equipment such as weapons to eliminate opponents and aim to be the last remaining player. However, TABG
has a physics engine that produces exaggerated character motions when articulating the player characters such as stretching limbs and exaggerated kickbacks while using guns. TANG also has special abilities allowed for everyone.
Basic ones include dual wielding weapons, platforms with flowing lava, grenades that spawn entire houses, guns that shoot people to the sky and make them explode. Then there are buffs and nerfs, I mean blessings and curses.
Such as a blessing where you become 40% smaller, becoming significantly harder to kill, or a curse where you become 40% larger, becoming an easy target. And nukes. It had to be nukes. Well, hopefully you won’t get spammed by blue skinned characters spamming oui. Who gets that reference?
10) Enlisted [Pc, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S]
Enlisted is a squad-based online fps game with infantry, ground vehicles and aircraft fighting together on the same map. Pretty generic for a firefight right? Well, that’s where enlisted differs. Players can control a squad of 4 to 9 soldiers represented by a real life division based on their respective countries, all at the same time. Yeah.
A squad of 9 soldiers, at the same time. Admittedly, if you don’t have enough players, or if you can’t even hit the minimum 4 played mark, no need to worry. The game can be played with only three players. Three of them will be played by controlled soldiers, while the rest will be AI or not controlled.
Or you each can have a squad of 9 soldiers. That works too. Another addition to the gameplay is the ability to switch from soldier to soldier in your squad by pressing a single key. No longer will you have to helplessly spectator the battlefield once
you’ve been killed. You can just switch to a different soldier and continue the fight. In this way Enlisted always keeps you in the game.
Shot down and incapacitated and the medic ignores you?
No problem. Switch to the medic in your squad and save yourself. It all works!
You can pilot tanks, aircrafts, and do the whole shebang. Maps include major WW2 based battlefields. There is also a campaign with four distinct missions based on pre-existing battles: Battle of Moscow, Invasion of Normandy, Battle of Tunisia and Battle of Berlin.
The game modes are divided into 4: Conquest, Invasion, Assault and Destruction. Furthermore, you can upgrade your squad from rank and file soldiers to masters of combat through a rank system.
Conclusion:
These are some of the games you can play with three people, or more than three people.
Of course I’ve left the generic ones like PUBG and Fortnite because I think everyone knows PUBG way too much, and I will never suggest Fortnite to anyone. It’s my pride as a gamer. I won’t tarnish it. Enjoy.
